For modern caravanners chasing off-grid freedom, power matters — and so does reliability. That’s where REDARC Electronics comes in.

Based in South Australia, REDARC has been building power solutions for more than 45 years, with a growing focus on caravanners and four-wheel drivers who want to explore Australia without relying on caravan parks or powered sites.

REDARC’s products — from innovative battery chargers to brake controllers — are designed for the realities of Australian travel. In-house state-of-the-art equipment is used to ensure every product can withstand harsh conditions, corrugated roads, intense heat and long distances, and are all backed by the expert in-house technical support and REDNetwork, a national network of auto electricians.

REDARC was a major sponsor of this year’s Caravan of the Year competition held in Warrnambool, Vic.

“The event reaffirmed our belief that the future of caravanning is smart, self-sufficient power — and we’re proud to be leading the charge,” said Tim Chivers, REDARC business development manager – recreational vehicles. “The public Showcase allowed us to network and connect with key and prospective OEM customers and receive feedback around our latest power solutions.”

So, let’s check out some of the brand’s most innovative products that can keep your adventures going.

BCDC Alpha Range: Charging made smarter

If there’s one thing you don’t want to worry about when you’re out bush, it’s your battery system.

The BCDC Alpha range is REDARC’s new generation of DC-DC battery chargers, designed to charge your second batteries using your vehicle’s alternator and solar power.

“It’s the only DC-DC charger that can both charge and recover your start battery,” said Stewart Lofts, REDARC key account manager – OEM recreational vehicles. “This uses excess solar power to maintain a start battery and revive a flat start battery, at the press of a button or via the smartphone app.

“The Start Battery Recovery allows users to recover a start battery using a secondary battery in just 15 minutes, via a connected phone or a push button on the device itself.”

The BCDC Alpha Range also comes with built-in Green Power Priority™, so solar power will always be used first if available, minimising the load on the alternator and saving fuel.

The BCDC Alpha has been designed to be compact, efficient and rugged and is built for under-bonnet installation. The BCDC Alpha R on the other hand, is built for in-cabin setups and features RedVision connectivity for battery monitoring. Both models also adjust their charge mode in real time to meet your battery’s needs, maximising efficiency and extending lifespan.

Manager Alpha Range: Complete power control

Compact, lightweight and powerful, the Manager Alpha Range is a three-way battery charger that brings together AC, DC and solar inputs into one intelligent, unified setup. And at up to 55 per cent smaller and 28 per cent lighter than comparable systems that require multiple parts to deliver the same features, the Manager Alpha range not only maximises your vehicle’s capacity but also leaves plenty of space for your other adventure essentials.

A standout in the range is the Manager Alpha100, which delivers an impressive 100A from a combination of available power sources and boasts a charge rate that is three times faster than the Manager30, ensuring you can run power-hungry devices like induction cooktops, air-conditioners and fridges while still charging your batteries quickly and efficiently.

The Manager Alpha Range also takes care of your start battery. When your secondary battery reaches full charge, the Manager will automatically begin to deliver up to 25A to your vehicle’s start battery. And, better yet, if your start battery goes flat, the Manager Alpha can bring it back to life with the touch of a button.

Smart Battery Monitor: Know your power at a glance

The Smart Battery Monitor helps take the guesswork out of power planning by giving users accurate, real-time monitoring of their battery’s state of charge and current flow via the RedVision app or display screen.

The system is reported to be more than five times more accurate than the leading competitors, and paired with Bluetooth 5.1 tech, you’ll be able to stay connected reliably over distances of up to 42m.

It’s a small addition to a setup, but a game changer in terms of ease of use and confidence when staying off-grid.

Making life easy

When you’re exploring remote parts of Australia, a power system that’s easy to use and reliable takes a lot of stress out of the journey. REDARC’s range is made for simplicity, durability and real-world performance — so you can focus on the adventure, not the setup.

One of REDARC’s most popular products is the Tow Pro Elite, a market-leading electric brake controller. Its standout feature, SwayStop, lets you quickly correct trailer sway at the push of a button and includes two modes — proportional for highway use and manual override for offroad control. REDARC has recently released a new product, the Tow-Pro Link electric brake controller.

If you’re wanting to maximise on off-grid capability, comfort and efficiency, here are a few proven pairings to consider:

  • BCDC Classic + Smart Battery Monitor: This pairing keeps your essential gear, like fridges and lights, running without fuss. The BCDC Classic charger delivers smart and efficient charging from solar and vehicle power, while the Smart Battery Monitor gives real-time feedback on your battery’s state of charge and usage, all of which can be monitored via the RedVision app.
  • Manager Alpha100 + TVMS Rogue: For travellers who rely on power-hungry devices, this combination offers complete control and monitoring of all your van’s onboard electrical systems. The Manager Alpha100 pushes 100A for quick charging and keeping devices like induction cooktops and air-cons running, while the TVMS Rogue provides seamless and complete control over lighting, water pumps and appliances.
  • GoBlock + PowerDock: This combo is ideal for those who want the flexibility of portable power, perfect for day trips away from the van. The GoBlock is a portable lithium battery system so you can keep your drinks cold at camp or power a speaker at the beach. And when combined with the PowerDock the GoBlock becomes a ready-to-go energy source whenever you need it.

Whether you’re off for the weekend or heading off on a Big Lap, REDARC’s products are made to keep you moving with confidence. Find out more on the REDARC website.
